Adelaide web, app and digital marketing studio, part of KWP+Partners since 2021
About Digital Noir
Digital Noir is an Adelaide studio that builds websites and mobile apps and runs digital marketing, including SEO, social media and photography. Since 2021 it has been part of the KWP group, a South Australian independent known first as kwpx and renamed KWP+Partners in March 2025. The studio is at 251 Rundle Street, Adelaide. The wider group adds brand, media, strategy and customer experience work.
The company story starts with Sam Davies, who began freelancing as a graphic designer in London in 2006. That work became Scrimshaw Communications, which ran until 2011, when Davies moved back to Adelaide and founded Digital Noir. The first full-time staff joined in 2013. In 2015 the team briefly ran an offshoot called Pixel Pong in Chiang Mai, Thailand, then based itself in Somerton Park until 2017 before moving to Flinders Street. After KWP acquired the studio, Davies became Executive Director of Brand and Digital, and in 2024 he was made managing director of the group's Adelaide office. The team has about 16 people, including Mel Hammond as Head of Performance and David Pyatt as Solutions Architect.
They have used an Agile method on client projects since 2019. Reviewers describe scoping workshops at the start, regular progress updates and sites that staff can update without hiring a developer. Mel Hammond focuses on upfront strategy and support from kickoff through launch. They have an Adelaide SEO service, but no published local SEO, Google Business Profile or review management method. There is no dental or healthcare marketing page.
Their clients lean to established brands and organisations: Weber, Janome, Grundfos, Drakes, RuralCo, Viterra, Nova, Fresh FM, Scott Salisbury Homes and Shine. Their health-sector work is for charities, namely Kidney Health Australia and Carers SA, and they built a Schoolies festival app for Encounter Youth. No dental practices are named. They also produce the Humans Aren't Robots podcast, which was featured at Pause Fest.
They are rated 4.8 on Google from 20 reviews. Clients say the team kept to agreed timelines, communicated often, worked through feedback quickly and understood the wider business, and one called the pricing cost-effective for the quality. Prices and contract terms are not published. The studio fits a larger practice, a multi-site group or a DSO that wants brand, website and possibly a patient app built together. A single-chair practice after low-cost local SEO alone will find little dental-specific evidence here. Scammers have been impersonating the company with fake job offers.
