Cosmetic Dentistry Keywords List

,

Someone searching “how much do porcelain veneers cost per tooth” has already picked veneers and is pricing them, so to a cosmetic practice that search is worth more than “cosmetic dentistry” on its own. Cosmetic dentistry keywords sort by treatment and by how close the person is to booking, and each group needs its own kind of page.

We wrote 153 phrases across eight treatments. Veneers, whitening, bonding and smile makeovers each get a table, and so do Invisalign, gum contouring, cosmetic crowns and implants for front teeth. Every row has an intent label and the page the phrase belongs on. A separate modifier table handles city names and add-ons like “same day” or “for crooked teeth,” and the title tag examples and the ADA and FTC rules on before-and-after photos and testimonials sit near the end.

Seven Points for a Cosmetic Keyword Plan

  • Give each treatment one main page, and put the cost and gallery sections on that page before splitting either of them out.
  • Cost searches need real numbers or a clear explanation of what changes the price. A page that only says “call for pricing” gives those searchers nothing to stay for.
  • Caption every gallery case with what was done and how many visits it took, because that is what before-and-after searchers look for.
  • Cosmetic dentistry is not one of the dental specialties recognized under the ADA Code, so “cosmetic dentist” titles should never add “specialist.”
  • Every patient photo used in marketing needs a signed HIPAA authorization, including cropped smile close-ups.
  • FTC rules ban fake reviews and require disclosure when a patient got free or discounted treatment in return for a testimonial.
  • A month of consultation notes and your Search Console queries will catch phrases this list misses, local ones in particular.

Where These Cosmetic Search Phrases Came From

The list started with questions cosmetic patients bring to a consultation, like how long veneers last or whether whitening works on a crown. We turned each one into the words a person would type and then checked the wording in Google autocomplete, which draws on real searches in the searcher’s location and language.

Every phrase carries one of five intent labels. A research phrase comes from someone still learning about a treatment. Cost and financing phrases come from people pricing it or working out how to pay for it, near me means they want a local office, and before/after means they want to see proof. Of the 153 phrases, 80 are research, 23 are cost, 30 are near me, 10 are before/after and 10 are financing.

There are no monthly search volumes in the tables, because Google Keyword Planner estimates the shorter terms but hides very low-volume phrases, and many of these fall under its cutoff. “Veneers vs bonding” and other comparison searches have their own list in our guide to dental treatment comparison keywords.

Veneer Keywords From First Question to Booked Consult

Veneer searches use all five intent labels. Some are fears, like “do veneers ruin your teeth,” and some come from people ready to book, like “veneer consultation [city].” The research questions often ask about tooth preparation and whether veneers are permanent. Answer those in plain terms and readers tend to keep going until they reach the cost section.

Order the veneers page the way patients think about it. Start with who veneers suit and porcelain versus composite, then cover the appointment sequence and how long they last, and put cost and the gallery last. The fee moves with the number of teeth, the material, the lab and whether a trial smile is included, so build the cost section around those and add a fee range if the practice will publish one.

Aspen Dental lays out its veneers cost page this way. It gives a per-tooth range for porcelain and composite veneers, names what moves the fee, such as the material and the number of teeth, and links to its financing options and the Aspen Dental Savings Plan.

Have the dentist write or review blog posts for “are veneers permanent” and “do veneers ruin your teeth,” and link each one back to the veneers page. Put the dentist’s name, degree and cosmetic training at the top. Someone deciding whether to have enamel removed wants to know who is answering.

Teeth Whitening Searches and the Pages That Answer Them

Whitening searches often name a method or an event. “Zoom whitening near me” names a branded in-office system and belongs on the whitening page. “Teeth whitening before wedding how far in advance” is a timing question, and a blog post can answer it in two paragraphs.

In-office and take-home whitening fit on one page, with a short table of visit time and how long results last for each. Sensitivity gets its own section, because many patients ask about it before they agree to treatment.

Pearland Dental Group in Texas has a page on in-office vs take-home whitening that gives a chair session of about 60 to 90 minutes and full take-home results by around day 14. Its FAQ tells patients with sensitive teeth that the gradual trays may suit them better.

Unless the practice can back it up for typical patients, a claim such as “eight shades whiter in one visit” creates the “unjustified expectation about results” that the ADA Code of Ethics lists as misleading.

Dental Bonding Searches About Chips and Gaps

Bonding searches describe a small, specific problem, such as a chipped edge or a gap between the front teeth. These searchers usually want a fast, lower-cost fix. Open the bonding page with what bonding can repair in a single visit and how long it tends to last.

Bonding page headings should use the patient’s words. “Fixing a Chipped Front Tooth” and “Closing a Gap Between Front Teeth” match the searches far more closely than “Composite Resin Restorations” does, and a patient can tell from the heading alone that the page covers their problem.

Smile Dentist London does this on its composite bonding page, with sections headed “Chipped or Worn Edges” and “Small Gaps Between Teeth.” Further down, a fee table lists bonding from £395 a tooth, with the smile trial and the consultation priced on their own lines.

“Edge bonding” and “peg lateral bonding” are niche terms that informed patients already use. Give each one a short paragraph and a gallery case on the bonding page; neither needs a page of its own.

Smile Makeover Keywords for Multi-Treatment Cases

Smile makeover searches come from people planning several treatments at once, often veneers with whitening or gum contouring. They tend to be the biggest cases a cosmetic practice treats. Most of the questions are about process and cost.

Open the smile makeover page with the planning visit, covering the photos, the scans and any trial smile the practice offers. Then show three or four complete cases, each with a caption listing every treatment involved and the total number of visits.

Smile Solutions in Melbourne follows that order in its smile makeover article. The first visit covers goals, fees and X-rays. Photos come next, and then a digital design with a temporary mock-up placed on the teeth so the patient can preview the new smile.

“Hollywood smile” has no clinical meaning, yet patients type it. If you target it, define it on the page as a set of veneers or crowns across the visible teeth, so the term matches what you actually offer.

Invisalign and Clear Aligner Terms Adults Use

Many patients search for Invisalign by its brand name, and practices that offer it can use the name on their pages. Put “clear aligners” on the same page for people comparing brands.

Split the Invisalign page into case types, such as crowding, gaps, overbite and crossbite, each with an H3 and a short gallery. Adults over 40 ask about aligners around existing crowns and bridgework. A section written for them picks up phrases that generic Invisalign pages skip.

The Orthodontists, a practice in Western Australia, splits its Invisalign article into headings such as “Overbite,” “Crossbite,” “Gaps in Teeth” and “Crowded Teeth.” A second section, “Limitations of Invisalign,” lists cases where braces may work better, including large gaps and teeth that need extracting first.

Some Invisalign cost searches include the word “insurance.” Explain how orthodontic benefits usually apply to aligners in your office, and keep the details general unless your team confirms each plan.

Gum Contouring Searches Around a Gummy Smile

Target “gummy smile” and “uneven gum line,” because patients search for the look they want to change. Use the clinical name, gingivectomy, once in the text.

A gum contouring page should say whether the practice uses a laser or a scalpel and what recovery feels like in the first week. If gum work comes before veneers in a makeover, explain the order. If the practice offers Botox for a gummy smile, check your state dental board’s rules on dentists providing it before you publish a page on it.

Complete Smiles Bella Vista in Sydney answers the recovery question on its laser gum contouring page. It says most people feel mild tenderness for the first 24 to 48 hours and suggests soft, cool foods for up to a week. The page also names gum contouring as a common first step before porcelain veneers or crowns.

Cosmetic Crown and Front-Tooth Implant Phrases

Crown searches with cosmetic intent focus on front teeth and on color. “Replace old crown with black line at gum” describes a common complaint about older porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns, and it suits a page that explains all-ceramic options.

Implant searches with an aesthetic angle are mostly about a single front tooth or a full arch. The front-tooth page needs to answer the gap question first, because “temporary tooth while waiting for implant” is the first worry many patients raise.

Full-arch cases such as “teeth in a day [city]” and “all on 4 cost [city]” carry high fees, so ranking organically for those phrases justifies extra work on the page. Our comparison of Google Ads and dental SEO shows how the two channels split this kind of high-ticket demand.

City, Same-Day and Crooked-Teeth Modifiers

Modifiers turn a treatment term into a specific search. A city or neighborhood name tells Google the person wants an office nearby. “For crooked teeth” names the problem and leaves the choice of treatment open.

“Fix crooked teeth without braces” is a problem-first search, and it fits a blog post that lays out the options in order of time and cost. Link each option to its treatment page, where the booking happens.

“Same day veneers” usually means composite veneers placed in one visit. If you offer them, say so in a composite section of the veneers page. If you don’t, drop the phrase, since it would only bring in people you can’t treat.

Most “near me” searches are decided on the map, largely by the categories and services in your Google Business Profile. Our guide to the Google local 3-pack for dental clinics goes through those fields one by one.

About a dozen core pages cover these phrases for most cosmetic practices. You need a cosmetic hub, one page per treatment, a financing page, a gallery and location pages. The example practice in the table, Harbor Smile Studio in Tampa, Florida, is one we invented, and it is run by general dentists.

Each page needs its own descriptive title, without the same words or boilerplate repeated across pages. Google’s title link guidance sets no character limit. Long titles are cut to fit the screen, though, so put the treatment and city first and the brand last.

Add structured data where it fits, starting with Dentist on the location pages and the hub. Our dental schema markup guide has examples you can copy. In the gallery, every case gets its own caption and a link to the matching treatment page, which is where the visitor books.

Heavy, uncompressed gallery images slow the page down on phones, and that hurts search. Our list of dental website design services in the USA includes teams that build fast cosmetic galleries.

Consultation Notes and Search Console as Cosmetic Keyword Sources

For one month, have the treatment coordinator write down the first thing each cosmetic patient says about their smile, word for word. Lines like “my teeth look short when I smile” or “one tooth is darker than the rest” become headings on the bonding, crown and whitening pages.

In Search Console, open the Performance report, filter by the veneers page and sort the Queries tab by impressions. A phrase with many impressions and few clicks means the page is close, but the title or the first paragraph misses what people asked. Rewrite those two parts first. It takes about an hour, and Google is already showing the page.

Run the same check on the gallery page each quarter. Before-and-after queries that name a problem, such as “gap” or “crooked,” tell you which cases to add next. Our review of SEO tools for dentists covers rank tracking by location, which Search Console does not show.

Before-and-After Photos, Testimonials and the Rules Behind Them

Section 5.F of the ADA Code of Ethics bars dentists from advertising in a way that is false or misleading in any material respect. Advisory opinion 5.F.2 lists statements that create “an unjustified expectation about results the dentist can achieve” among the examples. A gallery that shows only the three best cases out of a hundred, with no caption, is the kind of display that can create that expectation.

Cheshire Dental Centre in Crewe, England, opens its smile gallery with two plain notes. Every pair shows one of its own patients, “published with their permission,” and the photos are “examples of our work rather than a promise of your own outcome.”

Cheshire Dental Centre smile gallery with a patient permission note above the before-and-after photos

Caption every before-and-after case with the treatments done, the number of visits, the time between photos and whether either photo was retouched. Shoot both photos with the same lighting and angle. Show a range of cases, and include some modest changes next to the dramatic ones.

Cosmetic dentistry is not on the list of specialties recognized by the National Commission on Recognition of Dental Specialties and Certifying Boards. Under section 5.H of the ADA Code, a dentist may announce as a specialist only in a recognized specialty, and under section 5.I a general dentist who announces services must state that they are provided by general dentists. Target “cosmetic dentist [city]” freely, but leave “cosmetic specialist” out of titles and copy, and check your state board’s advertising rules as well.

Patient testimonials fall under the FTC’s Endorsement Guides, revised in June 2023. When an advertiser cannot show that a patient’s result is what people will generally get, the Guides expect the ad to make the generally expected results clear. If a patient received free or discounted whitening in return for a video, that connection must be disclosed.

The FTC’s Consumer Reviews and Testimonials Rule, announced on August 14, 2024, bans fake reviews, including AI-generated ones, and bans paying for reviews on condition that they are positive. It also covers staff reviews that hide the connection to the practice. The ADA added advisory opinion 5.F.7 in 2025, which extends the false-or-misleading standard to social media influencers and requires paid partnerships to be disclosed.

Photos taken during treatment are protected health information, and HIPAA requires a patient’s written authorization before a practice uses PHI for marketing. Full-face photographs are on HIPAA’s list of identifiers, so get a signed authorization for every gallery photo, including smile close-ups, and store it with the patient record. Our Instagram captions for dentists include before-and-after wording for cases with consent on file.

Cosmetic Practice Owners’ Questions About Keyword Targeting

Should Veneer Cost Get a Page of Its Own?

Start with a cost section on the veneers page. Move it to its own page once you have a fee range, the factors behind it, financing examples and insurance notes to put there, because a thin cost page just competes with the main veneers page.

Can a General Practice Rank for Cosmetic Dentist Searches?

Yes. “Cosmetic dentist [city]” is a service phrase, and general dentists can target it when the page states that care is provided by general dentists. Just keep out any wording that suggests a recognized specialty, such as “cosmetic specialist.”

Do We Need to Publish Prices for Cosmetic Treatments?

Publishing prices is a business choice. Cost and financing searches make up 33 of the 153 phrases in this list, though. Give those searchers a fee range with the factors that move it, or at least a plain explanation of what the consultation covers and what it costs.

Which Cosmetic Keywords Should a New Practice Target First?

Start with the treatments the practice most wants to grow, and build the main treatment page and its gallery before any blog posts. Local phrases with your city name come next, supported by reviews. Our dental Google reviews statistics show how patients use reviews when choosing a dentist.

How Should a Dentist Review Cosmetic Pages Before They Go Live?

The treating dentist should read every claim about results and risks, then add a byline with their credentials. Our guide to E-E-A-T for dental websites explains how to show that expertise across the rest of the site.
